"ImmoralMinority" (araimondo)

When I was a partner in a big law firm, my partners used to tease me that I got the weirdest cases. Today’s work is an example.
My client is getting sued by a supervisor who got fired. Two witnesses reported employees smoking weed in a break area with the supervisor standing right there. One witness was an employee, the other was the son of an employee there to pick his dad up for work. The supervisor was fired because he either allowed it or failed to notice it. My client is not that uptight about the weed except for the fact that it was happening at work. We even had an independent investigator investigate because the supervisor claimed HR was out to get him.
The guy claims he was fired in retaliation for claiming he was harassed by a woman in the office. That complaint was investigated and she was formally disciplined for inappropriate behavior.
Sometimes, this work is just silly.

From my experience, the following defenses tend to work the best:
I thought they were clove cigarettes!
Amicus Habeas Curious
: Latin for
“
my friend wondered if I could hold this for him

1. Go to work
2. Do work
3. Get paid
4. Go home and enjoy life
Why is that so hard for some people? When I worked at a mall in college, I was always bewildered by people’s inability to just come to work and work. It’s like they had no hobbies, and so work became a hobby.

Personally as an attorney I think the marijuana cases on getting very interesting. I don’t know if I would argue harassment and retaliation. Not knowing your client or the policies I would have cited the lack of any mention of it, if that is the case. I would use the retaliation if the employees smoking didn’t get fired, or something similar.
People are just too damn litigious

On the other hand,
Amicus Hoboas Corpus
means “I’m not hauling this bum off to make Soylent Green, he’s totally a friend of mine. Totally.”

I thought about going to law school at one point, but decided on the tech industry, I got burned out and became a PI working for lawyers, after seeing what you guys deal with, I went back to the tech industry which is while insane, is less insane than the law.

Snoop and Martha’s Potluck Dinner Party is a real show on VH1 and almost enough to make me want to sign back up for cable/satellite.

Also known as the “I’m not dead! I’m not dead! I feel happy! I feel happy!” defense.

I think you’re not getting the point here. He’s talking about something he finds interesting, not complaining.
Also, many jobs are not something you can just do at work and then totally forget about as soon as you leave. My wife for example is a substance abuse counselor, dealing with people who have serious problems and are barely scraping by. She does her best to compartmentalize, but often when she comes home she needs to vent for a little while because of the nature of her work.

That was my primary problem with Maryland. Everyone lived to work. They only talked about work and hung out with people FROM work. So unless you wanted to talk about work...we had nothing in common.
Took me 2 years...I left. It was nice being the World’s Most Interesting Man at bars, but owning a fast car, firearms and traveling...isn’t really that interesting in the greater scheme of things. They were just terribly boring.

If that’s not a batch of pot brownies in that picture getting made, don’t tell me. I want to believe.

My comment was aimed at the characters in the story, not the storyteller.
Venting from work is completely different than dicking around at work because you have nothing to do once you get home.
